We proudly celebrated the successful opening and blessing of the new clinic building in Whanganui East on Saturday 07 June 2025. Organized by the Whanganui Anglicans, the event was attended by a diverse range of community leaders and representatives, key persons from the Whanganui Anglicans and the Diocese of Wellington, representatives from two Primary Health Organizations (PHOs), partners, staff, and special guests. It marked a significant milestone for the collaborative work between the Whanganui Anglicans and Living Waters.
The event was led by Reverend Caleb Rowe, Co-Vicar of the Whanganui Anglican Churches, the Mihi and Welcome conducted by Archdeacon Bernard Broughton. Rev Rowe spoke of the highlights of this collaborative project followed by speeches from Katie Thomas - Parish Manager, Archbishop Justin Duckworth, Mayor Andrew Tripe, Carl Bates - MP for the Whanganui Electorate, Jonathan Murray - COO, National Hauora Coalition, Amarjit Maxwell - CEO THINK Hauora, Dr. Praveen Thadigiri - GP Living Waters, all underscoring the community spirit and shared excitement for the journey ahead.
In a moving gesture, Ronald Hough a resident of Jerusalem (Whanganui River Road), supported by his family, presented a taonga (pounamu from the Whanganui river) as a symbol of the deep sense of respect and commitment to relationships Living Waters and the Whanganui Anglicans share with the Whanganui community. This was followed by the blessing of the new clinic premises led by Archdeacon Bernard Broughton as he walked through each room/space in the clinic following by attendees numbering over 200. Thereafter guests enjoyed refreshments and warm fellowship into the the late morning.
