winners - "mahia kia ea" - a can do attitude

Additional Information

Living Waters Medical won an award at the National Hauora Coalition  Annual Awards for 2023. The awards recognized the work done by practices contracted to  the National Hauora Coalition across their network (Auckland, Hamilton, Taumaranui and  Whanganui).

Living Waters won in the award category "Mahia Kia Ea (A Can-Do Attitude)".    This was in recognition of the Living Waters Team successfully commencing GP Services at Ranana; a rural and remote location along the Whanganui River Road.  This was following a gap of over 18 years of these communities last had a GP Service along the Whanganui River.   The narrative  presented of our work was as below:

“Living Waters contributes to the greater Hauora responsibility. Working in rural and remote  areas of Whanganui, Living waters have established a GP Service in Ranana. This service was  requested by whanau Māori for the betterment of whanau in Ranana. In addition, Living  Waters operationalized philanthropic activities to provide the greatest impact primarily  focused on rangatahi by sponsoring activities and providing a platform through community events to showcase rangatahi. This approach affords the opportunity for whanau to aspire to  and reach their highest potential thereby realizing Mahia Kia Ea.”

We acknowledge the work done by the Community Led Development Trust who have been  instrumental in taking Living Waters up the Whanganui River to establish the GP Service.   We acknowledge the work of the Living Waters Team involved in the planning and  implementation of this project at Ranana  after a gap of 18 years! We also acknowledge the support from our PHO (the National Hauora Coalition - NHC) as we  ventured in this direction where many have tried and failed to establish this service over the  years.

An award note to end 2023!
