The Whanganui Skin Centre provides dedicated assessment and treatment for skin conditions, with a strong focus on skin cancer detection and management.

Our clinicians have specialised training in skin cancer medicine and diseases of the skin, combining experience with modern diagnostic tools to support accurate assessment and effective treatment. 

From full skin checks to minor procedures, we aim to provide care that is accessible, timely, and trusted by the communities we serve.

DIAGNOSIS

 We combine decades of experience, dermoscopy, as well as the latest diagnostic tools including intelligent software applications (powered by AI:  Artificial Intelligence) to aid in identification, diagnosis, and treatment of skin cancers and diseases of the skin.

Skin Biopsies 

Surgical Excision of skin lesions 

Cryotherapy (Liquid Nitrogen Therapy)

REFERRALS FROM PRIMARY CARE PROVIDERS

We are able to accept referrals from other primary care providers of skin lesions suspected or diagnosed to be skin cancers. Referral criteria as below: 

• Referral letter should be accompanied by at least a macro-image in color. 
• Referrers are welcome to attached dermatoscopic pictures with referrals.

SELF-REFERRALS 

Patients are welcome to self-refer.  In such an instance the patient will be offered an appointment for an assessment and a management plan will be made following the consultation.   

LABORATORY RESULTS

All laboratory investigation results requested for at our centre will be copied to the patient's primary care provider.   

CLINICAL REOCRDS

Clinical records of patients (including results) seen at our clinic will be forwarded to the patient's primary care provider provided the patient consents to the same.   

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The team at the Whanganui Skin Cancer Centre will ensure that all care is delivered in keeping with the relevant standards.   The overall clinical responsibility of patients seen and managed at this centre rests with the team here.    The patient's regular primary care provider will continue to be the responsible clinical attendant for all other matters of health care for the patient.
