Scott was born and raised in Colorado and graduated from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 1998 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and History. He went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Physician Associate Studies at Finch University (now Rosalind Franklin University) in Chicago in 2002.
With more than 23 years of experience in medical and surgical dermatology, Scott has practiced in diverse clinical settings across the United States, including Chicago, St. Louis, Sonora, and Portland. His work has spanned both urban and rural communities, including opening the first Indian Health Services Dermatology Clinic in Sonora, California—an initiative that expanded access to specialized skin care in an underserved population.
Scott has also been actively involved in education and professional development. He served as an Associate Professor at the Saint Louis University Physician Associate Program, where he taught dermatology and led suture skills training. He has been a frequent speaker at the Society of Dermatology Physician Associates (SDPA) Summer Conference and has contributed to the National Commission on Certification of Physician Associates (NCCPA), helping develop and edit content for national certification exams.
He is a Fellow of both the Society of Dermatology Physician Associates (SDPA) and the New Zealand Physician Associate Society (NZPAS). Currently, Scott is the Clinical Lead and primary provider at Whanganui Skin Centre, where he focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases and skin cancer. In New Zealand, he has delivered skin cancer education for GPs through NHC and has led multiple suture skills workshops across the country, supporting primary care providers in developing procedural confidence.
Prior to relocating to New Zealand, Scott lived in Portland, Oregon. His wife is an emergency medicine–trained physician, and together they have two children, ages 14 and 7. Outside of work, Scott enjoys cooking, golfing, and spending time with his family—often shuttling his kids to activities around the Manawatū region, particularly horseback riding. As a family, they enjoy traveling and are looking forward to exploring more of New Zealand.
